Sure MySpace is pretty much a ghost town these days with it's antiquated layout and lack of workable features, but it's still pretty much the go-to place to find quick tour info and preview mp3's of musicians. And MySpace seems to know that musicians are their bread and butter as well, hosting "secret" shows all the time which are only announced on band's MySpace pages and releasing compilation albums among other ventures. They're latest undertaking, the "Transmissions" project, seems to actually be a pretty good idea. In the latest edition fans can watch an exclusive interview with Passion Pit as well as exclusive in-studio performances of stripped down tunes from ther "Manners" disc. Better yet, this special edition live EP can even be downloaded for free --which I think is pretty cool.
Not sure if it will have enough legs to draw people back into their evershrinking internet wasteland or if their efforts will prove to be too little too late. Either way we will get some pretty cool exclusive tracks in the meantime.
