I Saw The Light

Initially I chalked The Almighty Defenders' "Bow Down and Die" to be the lone nugget of gold from the next whiskey-drenched flash in the pan, but as the Defender's sing on their latest track, I have seen the light. The band which pairs the Black Lips with King Khan & BBQ Show also manages to display a little more versatility on "Cone of Light". Yes it's stilla boozy affair with plenty of that twangines and drunken swagger, but now the whole "evil gospel" thing they were attempting to convey also starts to rear it's gravely head. The Almighty Defenders might just have a little more in their bag than I first anticipated. We shall all find out 9/22 when the rest of their record is released.
