Kid Cudi? More Like King Cudi!

As on-top of it hip-hop was a few years back, it seems to me that most MC's have let their game get a little stale. Will.I.Am turned electro, Kanye turned to autotune, and even the once mighty Eminem released an album that's decent but by no means ground-breaking. The shortlist of vocalists doing anything remotely moving to me include old-schooler Q-Tip, Lupe Fiasco, and the newest it-boy Kid Cudi.

Due to his co-writing of several of the 808's and Heartbreak tracks and his popular single "Day 'N' Night" the man is everywhere. You can find him collaborating with just about everyone under the sun, and his remixes flooding the Hype Machine. And for good reason --he kills it habitually.

These latest 2 Cudi remixes that were sent to me are just 2 examples of why he is the reigning king. The first one is by our pal Dave Wrangler who remixes the "Day 'N' Night" single with some Rick James samples that give it a funkier feel. The second one I especially love. The track "She Came Along" was done by Virginian producer Sharam who Cudi had been dying to work with. The thing that puts it over the top is the prevelant Patsy Cline samples that oddly enough are what make the track sound more hip-hop than clubby. 'Ye was also pretty impressed by this, as wrote on his blog this is his new favourite song.
