Interesting and Strange but True

It doesn't take a lot of back story to appreciate the new singles by British emcee Testament, and his 6-man live crew calling themselves Homecut, in a nutshell, they sell themselves. The group is 4 years removed from their last album, and this time around, he has teamed with adorable Grammy winner Corinne Bailey Rae and legendary British jazz saxophonist/rapper Soweto Kinch on "I Don't Even Know," the first single from his upcoming album (due out May 18th from First Word Records). Whether you've never heard of these people before or you are perfectly aware at what an odd assortment of British talent has been assembled, what is certain is that nobody is putting out anything that sounds remotely similar. Think Frank Zappa taking some downers, deciding to try his hand at R&B, and then having it rapped over. Call it crazy, call it interesting, call it unique for sure, but I call it just plain good.
