The Unbearables

I got a tip over the weekend that I should check out a band from Austin called The Unbearables. While the comparisons to Polyphonic Spree and Mount Righteous immediately start flying around, they may be based more on the band's size than their sound. The Unbearables are much closer to Sufjan Stevens, but that's not entirely fair either, as they are still able to evoke their garage rock roots from time to time.

The thing that IS certain, however, is that you'll have plenty of opportunities to decide for yourself, as they have been very busy in the studio lately. "Autonomy vs. Shame," stage 1 in a series of 3 EP's dealing with the life-cycle, is out now (Vol's 2 and 3 out in Feb. and May respectively), and then their full-length is scheduled for a July release. But to me the most exciting news is that they will be in town playing a show with the aforementioned Mount Righteous at the Chat Room Pub in Fort Worth on Feb. 7th -and though the venue is the self-proclaimed "8th best bar in Fort Worth, that night there will be nowhere else in the world I'd rather be!
